Following on from some random chatter on Twitter earlier this evening it’s become apparent that some people would be interested in training..
Training on what though?
Well that’s really up to you…
Obvious topics that could be considered:
- the control panel
- Plesk
- dns basics
- domain basics (and maybe more advanced topics?)
So would people be interested in a training session with Blacknight staff (and maybe others) on these or other topics?

If there’s enough interest then we can start working on the practical details. If there’s no interest we’ll dump the idea and move on
UPDATE:
Since our clients are spread across Ireland and the globe we’re thinking that it would make more sense to run the training as a webinar using something like webex.

We have three people intersted in Plesk training. We can offer an Online Meeting Room to share the session.
I haven’t the first idea about Plesk so yes, that wold be great.

I would love something like networking theory 101 (eg. Subnetting/understanding larger scale networks). Really cool idea too.

How would it be delivered (webcasts, youtube, etc)
Although that could be kinda infersable due to the fact that most people who would want to learn that would have/are studying it in 3rd level.
Actually one idea is a tutorial on subnetting that could be done using YouTube or even ustream.tv with an IRC chat.
Yup, I’m always up for learning something new. I reckon stuff along the lines of best practice for managing a VPS would be a good topic.
Yes I think training would be very useful- the training I see the need for is for start ups who are attempting to minimise costs and work out how to register their own websites etc.
I believe this would increase business for you guys too- once people understand that it is pretty straight forward registering a domain name & having hosting with you guys.
Training would be useful for web developers who would like to use blacknight to host all their client websites. If we knew everything about the control panel and all the options, it would make it a no brainer to choose blacknight everytime.
Jan above has said exactly how I feel about this. I would like to be a Blacknight control panel “expert”. That is why I feel this is a no brainer for Blacknight also – they will get a dozen or so web developers who are selling on their behalf and taking support calls away from BK.
